Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2007 17:20:16 -0500 From: John McLaughlin Meteorologist John McLaughlin and Iowa Helicopter conducted an aerial fly over of storm damage in eastern Carroll and Greene County, Iowa. Track Length: Intermittent: 10 miles.  Maximum continuous path: 2 miles.  Maximum width: 50 yards. Damage Rating: EF0.  Crop damage and utility poles bent. No structures impacted. Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Comments: Very intermittent tornado track noted beginning three miles north of Coon Rapids, Iowa proceeding east across hwy 25 and dissipating at Cooper in Greene County.  Only continuous track extending more than two miles with width up to 50 yards was noted 5 miles north of Bagley/4 miles west of Cooper. Very evident track through crop fields. Tornado track meandered making 90 degree bends to the north then back to the east. After Cooper, Iowa, no convergent damage could be located.  We could not detect any convergent swath to correlate with touchdown reports near Rippey, although widespread west to east wind damage to crops is noted with estimated speeds of 65-70 mph.
