The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western Connecticut

  Western Massachusetts

  Northern New Jersey

  Southeast New York

  Northeast Pennsylvania

  Southwest Vermont



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 245 PM until

  900 PM EST.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will continue to strengthen along a cold

front spreading across the watch area this afternoon and early

evening.  Damaging wind gusts are the main threat with these storms,

but an isolated tornado or two is also possible.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles northwest of

Rutland VT to 25 miles west southwest of Trenton NJ. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

tornadoes.
