The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western Upper Michigan

  Northern and northeastern Wisconsin

  Lake Michigan



* Effective this Thursday afternoon from 555 PM until Midnight

  CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms should gradually increase in coverage and

intensity over the next few hours as the storms spread across

northern Wisconsin and western Upper Michigan.  A mix of

semi-discrete storms and line segments will support a risk for

damaging winds and large hail through early tonight.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles north and south of a line from 60 miles west of

Rhinelander WI to 65 miles southeast of Iron Mountain MI. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
