The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southeast Colorado

  Southwest Kansas

  Eastern New Mexico

  Oklahoma Panhandle

  West and Northwest Texas



* Effective this Sunday afternoon from 340 PM until Midnight CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5

    inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Storms will continue to increase and intensify as they

develop east/southeastward across the region through the late

afternoon and evening hours within a moderately unstable

environment. Bouts of severe hail are expected, and severe-caliber

winds will also be possible, particularly if a southeastward-moving

storm cluster evolves into the Texas Panhandle and Texas South

Plains this evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 85

statute miles east and west of a line from 25 miles north northeast

of Lamar CO to 20 miles southeast of Lubbock TX. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
