The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Far eastern Iowa

  Illinois

  Lake Michigan



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 255 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...At least two areas of strong to severe storms are

anticipated this evening. One evolving from cold front development

across northern Illinois and the other from a developing MCS

crossing east from Missouri into western and central Illinois. Wind

and hail are the expected hazards.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65

statute miles east and west of a line from 15 miles east southeast

of Saint Louis MO to 25 miles east northeast of Rockford IL. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
