The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Iowa

  Northeast Kansas

  Northern Missouri



* Effective this Friday morning from 440 AM until 1000 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...An increasingly organized/fast-moving band of storms will

continue east-northeastward across the region through the early

morning hours. Locally damaging winds are expected to be the primary

risk, although hail and/or a brief tornado are possible as well.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45

statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles south of

Shenandoah IA to 40 miles southeast of Knoxville IA. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
