The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northeast Colorado

  Northwest Kansas

  Western Nebraska

  Southwest South Dakota

  Eastern Wyoming



* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 435 PM

  until 1100 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2.5 inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will develop and

increase through early evening, initially across far eastern

Wyoming, northeast Colorado, and the western Nebraska Panhandle.

These storms should gradually increase in coverage and intensity

this evening as they move generally eastward into an unstable air

mass across the High Plains. Initial supercells capable of large

hail can be expected, although locally damaging winds could also

become more of a concern later this evening, particularly if storms

organize/cluster as they move eastward.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 90

statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles north northwest

of Rapid City SD to 80 miles southeast of Akron CO. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
