The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western and central Georgia



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 320 PM until

  900 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Leading supercell in east-central Georgia will pose the

greatest near-term severe threat. A few severe storms may yet

develop farther west with a primary threat for isolated damaging

winds and large hail.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles west northwest

of Athens GA to 40 miles southwest of Macon GA. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
