       WESTERN MARYLAND PANHANDLE

       NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA

       WESTERN VIRGINIA

       WEST VIRGINIA



EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 145 PM UNTIL

900 PM EDT.



HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70

MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.



THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65

STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 70 MILES SOUTHWEST OF

BLUEFIELD WEST VIRGINIA TO 55 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF ELKINS

50+ KT SWLY FLOW ABOVE 1 KM.  THIS KINEMATIC ENVIRONMENT COUPLED

WITH STEEPENING LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF MLCAPE

OF 1000-1500 J/KG WILL FAVOR THE FORMATION OF CONVECTIVE BANDS AND
