The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western Kansas

  Southwest Nebraska



* Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 635 PM

  until 200 AM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter

    possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Relatively isolated storms including a couple of

supercells ongoing across eastern CO early this evening will

continue east-southeastward into western Kansas this evening.

Gradual storm mergers and a gradually increasing low-level jet may

support the evolution of one or more semi-organized

east/southeastward-moving complexes of storms. Large hail and

locally damaging winds will be the main risks.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 35

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles east of Imperial

NE to 30 miles west southwest of Garden City KS. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
