The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and eastern Alabama

  West-central and northwestern Georgia



* Effective this Sunday morning from 350 AM until 1100 AM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible



SUMMARY...A complex of strong-severe thunderstorms initially over

northern Alabama is expected to move southeastward across the watch

area, on either side of an outflow boundary.  This complex should

weaken over Georgia and eastern Alabama later this morning; however,

in the meantime, damaging gusts are probable, along with an isolated

and marginal hail threat.  See SPC mesoscale discussion 893 for

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40

statute miles either side of a line from 20 miles south southwest of

Birmingham AL to 30 miles east southeast of Atlanta GA. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
