The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Arkansas

  Southern Missouri

  Far Eastern Oklahoma



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 220 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to gradually

increase this afternoon, initially across far eastern Oklahoma and

western/northern Arkansas into southern Missouri, where the air mass

continues to recover and destabilize in the wake of early-day

storms. A very moist and unstable air mass is in place regionally

and a belt of enhanced mid-level winds will also influence parts of

the region. Multiple southeastward-moving clusters of storms may

materialize with damaging winds/isolated large hail as the most

common hazards.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 105

statute miles east and west of a line from 35 miles northwest of

Poplar Bluff MO to 25 miles east southeast of Hot Springs AR. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
