The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northeastern Montana

  Much of western into south central North Dakota



* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 835 PM

  until 300 AM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

    to 75 mph possible

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Two primary scenarios are expected into the overnight

hours.  One is a broken line of storms (with a history of measured

severe wind gusts) expected to spread east-northeastward from

northeastern Montana into northwestern North Dakota, while a

separate cluster of storms with damaging wind and hail potential

moves from northwestern South Dakota into southern North Dakota

through the early morning hours.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 95

statute miles east and west of a line from 50 miles north northeast

of Williston ND to 60 miles south southwest of Bismarck ND. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
