The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Parts of west central Texas and the Texas Panhandle



* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 1245 PM

  until 700 PM CST.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  Scattered large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Frontal squall line is developing just east of the New

Mexico border, and these storms should spread east-northeastward and

intensify through mid afternoon.  The storm environment supports a

threat for damaging gusts and isolated large hail with the strongest

embedded storms.  An isolated/brief tornado also cannot be ruled out

with embedded circulations later this afternoon.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65

statute miles east and west of a line from 75 miles northwest of

Childress TX to 55 miles west southwest of San Angelo TX. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A few
