The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  North central and northeast Connecticut

  Much of Massachusetts

  Southern Maine

  New Hampshire

  Northern Rhode Island

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 1225 PM

  until 800 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Scattered severe storms are expected this afternoon along

and in advance of a cold front/surface trough across New England.

The storm environment will support a threat for supercells and short

line segments capable of producing damaging winds and isolated large

hail.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles north of Augusta

ME to 30 miles east southeast of Windsor Locks CT. For a complete
