The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Minnesota



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 555 PM until

  1100 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Widespread damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

    to 85 mph possible

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A well-organized and fast east/northeastward-moving

cluster of storms will pose a severe risk as it progresses across

southern Minnesota through early/mid-evening. Potentially

widespread/intense damaging winds are the primary hazard along with

some potential for isolated large hail and/or a brief tornado risk.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45

statute miles north and south of a line from 35 miles south of

Redwood Falls MN to 45 miles east of Mankato MN. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
