The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  South-central and Southeast Texas

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Tuesday morning and afternoon from 505 AM until

  100 PM CST.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...A complex of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue

to develop and gradually organize through the remainder of the

morning over the watch area, offering the threat for embedded

supercells and QLCS circulations, with a few tornadoes and isolated

damaging winds possible.  Refer to SPC mesoscale discussion 178 for

initial meteorological details.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles

either side of a line from 45 miles southwest of Victoria TX to 55

miles northeast of Houston TX. For a complete depiction of the watch

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail

surface and aloft to 1 inch. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 450. Mean

storm motion vector 25030.
