The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Illinois

  Western Kentucky

  Southeast Missouri



* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 500 PM until

  1000 PM CST.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A cluster of severe thunderstorms over south-central MO

will track eastward across the watch area this evening.  Large hail

and locally damaging winds are possible.  An isolated tornado cannot

be ruled out.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 30

statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles west northwest

of Poplar Bluff MO to 15 miles southeast of Paducah KY. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
