The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  South Central Kansas



* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 210 PM

  until 800 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will continue to intensify over parts of

central Kansas through the afternoon.  The strongest cells will be

capable of large hail and damaging winds.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles southwest of

Hutchinson KS to 25 miles east northeast of Chanute KS. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
