The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and northern South Dakota



* Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 1125 PM

  until 700 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated significant damaging wind gusts to 75 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms initially in and near southwestern

South Dakota are expected to organize into one or two primary

clusters or bows.  These will offer the risk of damaging winds and

sporadic large hail overnight while moving northeastward across this

watch area.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles either side of a line from 35 miles west of Pierre SD

to 45 miles east of Aberdeen SD. For a complete depiction of the

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
