The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central Iowa



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 325 PM until

  900 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2 inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 60 mph possible



SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop and spread

across the watch area this afternoon and early evening.  These

storms will track atop a cold/stable surface layer, with large hail

being the primary threat.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 35

statute miles north and south of a line from 85 miles west northwest

of Des Moines IA to 80 miles east northeast of Des Moines IA. For a
