The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and northeastern South Dakota



* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 1100 PM

  until 500 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Isolated storms may persist for another couple of hours

across northeastern South Dakota with a large hail threat.  Storms

developing farther west will continue to evolve into clusters and

line segments, with the primary threat of damaging winds as the

storms spread east-northeastward through the late overnight hours.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles north and south of a line from 55 miles west southwest

of Mobridge SD to 55 miles east southeast of Aberdeen SD. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
