The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northeast New Mexico

  Oklahoma Panhandle

  West/Northwest Texas



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 350 PM until

  1100 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Slow eastward-moving storms are expected to gradually

intensify through late afternoon/early from eastern New Mexico into

west/northwest Texas including the Panhandle. Isolated large hail

will be possible with a tendency for clustering by evening leading

to an increasing potential for severe-caliber wind gusts.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles north northeast

of Clayton NM to 50 miles south southwest of Lubbock TX. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
