The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Central and south central Arizona



* Effective this Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning from 450 PM

  until 100 AM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorm clusters are expected to form and move

southward from the Mogollon Rim into the lower deserts of southern

Arizona through late evening and early tonight.  The strongest

storms will be capable of producing damaging outflow winds of 60-70

mph, as well as isolated large hail near 1 inch diameter.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70

statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles north

northwest of Gila Bend AZ to 40 miles south of Safford AZ. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
