The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northern Iowa

  Western Minnesota

  Northeast Nebraska

  Eastern South Dakota



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Storms are expected to develop and further intensify

through late afternoon and early evening within multiple corridors

across the region near and ahead (east) of an eastward-advancing

cold front.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65

statute miles east and west of a line from 5 miles east northeast of

Alexandria MN to 35 miles south of Storm Lake IA. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
