The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southwestern Alabama

  The western Florida Panhandle

  Southeastern Louisiana

  Southern Mississippi

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Sunday morning and evening from 605 AM until 700

  PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes possible



SUMMARY...Major Hurricane Ida will make landfall later this morning

in southeastern Louisiana, and continue moving northwestward and

inland through the afternoon.  The threat for supercells and a few

tornadoes will increase through the day in the outer convective

bands to the northeast and east of the center of Ida.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 80 statute miles

north and south of a line from 20 miles west southwest of Slidell LA

to 40 miles east southeast of Pensacola FL. For a complete depiction

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail

surface and aloft to 0.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 50 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean
