The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southwest Illinois

  Central and southern Missouri



* Effective this Saturday night and Sunday morning from 625 PM

  until 200 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Although the near-ground air mass has stabilized in the

wake of the earlier significant squall line, a very moist and

unstable air mass advecting atop the stable near-surface air mass

will support the possibility of some severe hail through the

evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles north and south of a line from 65 miles southwest of

Knob Noster MO to 35 miles northeast of Farmington MO. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
