The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Far southeast Montana

  Northwest Nebraska

  Western South Dakota

  Eastern Wyoming



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 140 PM until

  1000 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75

    mph possible

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3

    inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Isolated to scattered storms will develop off the Black

Hills and central High Plains regions through this evening. Large

hail, a tornado, and isolated severe wind gusts will be the primary

hazards initially. Storms should eventually grow into clusters and

lines with an increasing wind risk towards sunset.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 90

statute miles east and west of a line from 105 miles north of Rapid

City SD to 15 miles south southwest of Chadron NE. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
