The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western Nebraska

  Western and central South Dakota

  Southeastern Wyoming



* Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 615 PM

  until 200 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...A complex of severe thunderstorms with embedded supercells

is expected to yield damaging wind and large hail as it moves into

the SD portion of the watch.  A broken area of thunderstorms

southward into eastern WY near the NE state line will offer the risk

for sporadic large hail and severe gusts as well, as it shifts

eastward across the High Plains.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles north northeast

of Mobridge SD to 5 miles east southeast of Sidney NE. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
