The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Extreme northwest Minnesota

  Eastern North Dakota



* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 140 PM until

  900 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are expected to increase in

coverage/intensity this afternoon along and ahead of a surface cold

front.  The storm environment across eastern North Dakota will favor

a mix of supercells and multicell clusters capable of producing

large hail and damaging winds into this evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55

statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles west northwest

of Grand Forks ND to 75 miles south southwest of Fargo ND. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
