The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southeast Arizona

  Western and Central New Mexico

  Far West Texas



* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 220 PM until

  1000 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will

continue to develop initially over the mountains this afternoon, and

subsequently drift generally south-southwestward toward southern New

Mexico/far West Texas and far southeast Arizona through the late

afternoon and evening. Instances of severe hail and wind can be

expected.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 110

statute miles east and west of a line from 65 miles northeast of

Cuba NM to 35 miles south southwest of Deming NM. For a complete

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
