The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Portions of western and central Kansas



* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 225 PM until

  900 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated very large hail events to 3 inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Isolated severe storms across portions of northwest Kansas

should continue moving southeast across the watch area this

afternoon, with some upscale/linear growth possible.  Large hail and

locally damaging winds will accompany the strongest storms into the

evening hours.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles north and south of a line from 45 miles west southwest

of Hill City KS to 30 miles east northeast of Hutchinson KS. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
