The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Eastern Kentucky

  Eastern Tennessee

  Extreme southwest Virginia

  Extreme southern West Virginia



* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 950 PM

  until 300 AM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will continue to consolidate into one or two

primary convective bands in advance of the cold front, with a

continuing threat for damaging gusts and marginally severe hail.

The severe threat should begin to diminish as the storms approach

the higher terrain and weaken overnight.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 65 miles northeast of

Jackson KY to 5 miles east southeast of Chattanooga TN. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
