The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  West-central and southwest Texas



* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning from

  440 PM until 200 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3

    inches in diameter likely

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorm coverage and intensity are expected to

increase through this evening across the watch area, with multiple

rounds of severe storms possible in some areas into tonight.

Damaging hail (potentially bigger than baseballs) and sporadic

severe gusts are the main concerns; however, a tornado or two cannot

be ruled out.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 80

statute miles east and west of a line from 55 miles southeast of

Dryden TX to 65 miles north of Abilene TX. For a complete depiction

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
