The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  South Central New Mexico

  Far West Texas



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 540 PM until

  1100 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events

    to 2 inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are intensifying over parts of New Mexico

and Northern Mexico.  These storms will spread across  the watch

area this evening, posing a risk of isolated large hail and damaging

winds.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles east and west of a line from 95 miles northeast of

Corona NM to 70 miles south southeast of El Paso TX. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
