The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  West-central through northeastern Minnesota

  Extreme northwestern Wisconsin

  Lake Superior



* Effective this Friday night and Saturday morning from 1155 PM

  until 700 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...An expanding plume or cluster of thunderstorms is expected

to pose an increasing risk for severe hail and at least isolated

damaging gusts over the next few hours across affected parts of MN.

The associated wind threat may increase toward the Arrowhead,

northwestern WI and western Lake Superior as upscale growth occurs.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70

statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south southeast

of Alexandria MN to 40 miles northeast of Grand Marais MN. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

tornadoes.
