The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Parts of central and southern Alabama



* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 445 PM until

  900 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter likely

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms will continue to strengthen for

the next couple of hours along and ahead of a cold front.  The storm

environment will favor supercell structures capable of producing

large hail and isolated damaging winds into this evening as the

storms spread east-southeastward.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45

statute miles north and south of a line from 85 miles west of Selma

AL to 10 miles east of Auburn AL. For a complete depiction of the

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
