The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western and central Kansas



* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 410 PM until

  1100 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5

    inches in diameter possible

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible



SUMMARY...At least isolated severe thunderstorms will continue to

increase in multiple areas across western into central Kansas. The

increasingly unstable environment and adequate shear will support

the possibility of supercells capable of large hail, along with

locally damaging winds.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles east and west of a line from 55 miles south southeast

of Dodge City KS to 25 miles northwest of Hill City KS. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
