The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Iowa

  Northeastern Kansas

  Northern Missouri

  Eastern Nebraska



* Effective this Friday morning from 240 AM until 1000 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

    to 75 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...A bow echo with a well-developed cold pool, rear-inflow

jet and history of measured severe winds may maintain its threat for

damaging swaths of wind across the watch area, through at least

sunrise.  Additional strong to severe storms may develop behind the

initial complex as well, and move into the watch area.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 90

statute miles north and south of a line from 30 miles west of

Lincoln NE to 10 miles north northeast of Kirksville MO. For a

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
