The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southwest Iowa

  Northern Kansas

  Northwest Missouri

  Southeast Nebraska



* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 310 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Widespread large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5

    inches in diameter likely

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are expected to continue to form and

intensify across the watch area this afternoon and early evening.

Large hail is the main threat, although the risk of locally damaging

winds will increase through the early evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 50

statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles southwest of

Kearney NE to 35 miles north of Lamoni IA. For a complete depiction

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
