The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Iowa



* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 500 PM until

  1000 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...Clusters of storms developing from southwest into central

Iowa should persist for the next few hours, near and north of a

stalling outflow boundary.  Multicell clusters with damaging outflow

winds and large hail will be the main concern through late evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 40

statute miles north and south of a line from 70 miles west southwest

of Des Moines IA to 35 miles north of Burlington IA. For a complete
