The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southwestern Alabama

  Western Florida Panhandle

  Southeastern Louisiana

  Southern Mississippi

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Sunday night and Monday morning from 645 PM

  until 600 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes possible



SUMMARY...Hurricane Ida will continue to translate northward (see

latest NHC advisory for tropical watches/warnings and

track/intensity guidance).  As it does, a favorable air mass for

supercell/tornado potential will spread gradually inland overnight.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles

north and south of a line from 40 miles northwest of Slidell LA to

20 miles northeast of Pensacola FL. For a complete depiction of the

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...This tornado watch replaces tornado

watch number 472. Watch number 472 will not be in effect after

645 PM CDT.



AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail

surface and aloft to 0 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 60 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean

storm motion vector 13045.
