The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Western and Central Kansas



* Effective this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning from 935 PM

  until 500 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A few tornadoes possible

  Widespread damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts

    to 80 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...A nearly continuous line of storms will continue to

progress east-northeastward across western/central Kansas late this

evening into the overnight. Damaging winds will be the most

prevalent concern, but strengthening low-level shear and a

moistening environment will also support the possibility of a few

tornadoes with the quasi-linear storms.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 75 statute miles

east and west of a line from 20 miles north northwest of Russell KS

to 20 miles south of Medicine Lodge KS. For a complete depiction of

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
