The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Southern Illinois

  Eastern Missouri



* Effective this Friday morning from 415 AM until 1000 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible



SUMMARY...A fast-moving cluster of storms will likely continue to

pose a risk for isolated damaging wind gusts and some hail as it

moves toward far eastern Missouri (including the St Louis Metro

area) into western Illinois.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55

statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles north of Alton

IL to 10 miles southwest of Farmington MO. For a complete depiction

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
