The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  South-central Arizona



* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 435 PM until

  1100 PM MST.



* Primary threats include...

  Isolated significant damaging wind gusts to 75 mph possible



SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms should continue to move

southwestward off the higher terrain and toward the desert floors.

This activity may produce severe/damaging gusts as it

forward-propagates southwestward across the watch area through the

remainder of the afternoon into the evening.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles either side of a line from 45 miles west northwest of

Gila Bend AZ to 60 miles north northeast of Tucson AZ. For a

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
