The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Extreme southeastern Illinois

  Southwestern Indiana

  Western Kentucky

  Northern Mississippi

  Western Tennessee



* Effective this Monday afternoon from 440 PM until Midnight CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Bands of strong-severe thunderstorms will offer a risk for

damaging gusts across the watch area through this evening.  A

supercell or two (predominantly over the MS/southwestern TN section)

could pose a tornado risk as well, and isolated severe hail cannot

be ruled out.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 60

statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south of Oxford

MS to 40 miles northeast of Evansville IN. For a complete depiction

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
