The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  southeastern Colorado

  much of eastern New Mexico



* Effective this Sunday morning and evening from 1140 AM until

  600 PM MDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Thunderstorms are expected to steadily increase in

coverage through this afternoon, spreading eastward across the watch

area with time.  Large hail will likely be the primary threat

initially, with damaging wind potential expected to gradually

increase later this afternoon as storms congeal into one or more

eastward-moving clusters.  In addition, a tornado or two will also

be possible with any sustained supercellular storm.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 75

statute miles east and west of a line from 10 miles north of Pueblo

CO to 15 miles south southeast of Roswell NM. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
