The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Tornado Watch for portions of

  Southwest Alabama

  The western Florida Panhandle

  Extreme southeast Mississippi

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Monday morning and afternoon from 545 AM until

  400 PM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  A couple tornadoes possible



SUMMARY...Bands of convection with embedded supercells will persist

through the day and spread slowly eastward into Alabama and the

western Florida Panhandle, to the east of weakening Tropical Storm

Ida in Mississippi.  The stronger/more persistent supercells may

produce a couple of tornadoes through mid afternoon.



The tornado watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles

north and south of a line from 40 miles north of Gulfport MS to 20

miles north northeast of Crestview FL. For a complete depiction of

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for

tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch

area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for

threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements

and possible warnings.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...This tornado watch replaces tornado

watch number 474. Watch number 474 will not be in effect after

545 AM CDT.



AVIATION...Tornadoes and a few severe thunderstorms with hail

surface and aloft to 0.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind

gusts to 50 knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean

storm motion vector 19040.
