The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Western Maryland

  Southeast Ohio

  Southwest Pennsylvania

  Northern and eastern Virginia

  Northern West Virginia

  Coastal Waters



* Effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 430 PM until

  1100 PM EDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2

    inches in diameter possible

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Isolated to scattered storms will continue to develop

along a quasi-stationary front. Storms should largely remain

discrete for a few hours this evening, offering a risk for severe

hail. Cells may merge into a short cluster or two with a damaging

wind risk. Any tornado threat should be confined to the Virginia

portion of the front.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45

statute miles either side of a line from 15 miles north northeast of

Zanesville OH to 50 miles south of Washington DC. For a complete

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are

favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening

weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.

2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 55 knots. A
