The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a



* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

  Northern Arkansas

  Western Kentucky

  Southeastern Missouri including the Bootheel

  Western Tennessee



* Effective this Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning from 525

  PM until 100 AM CDT.



* Primary threats include...

  Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

  Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

  A tornado or two possible



SUMMARY...Complexes of well-organized thunderstorms, including a

squall line that produced measured severe gusts at Springfield, MO,

in the past hour, will continue to pose a primary threat of damaging

wind.  Isolated severe hail and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.



The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 145

statute miles east and west of a line from 45 miles south southeast

of Batesville AR to 5 miles north of Cape Girardeau MO. For a

warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce

tornadoes.
